TMUA Preparation to Build Your Mathematical Reasoning
Prepare for both TMUA papers with structured practice, a sample mock test and a clear preparation approach.
StudyArk helps you practise applying mathematics to unfamiliar problems, work through logic and proof, and get used to the two-paper, no-calculator format.
- 2 Papers
- 40 Questions
- No Calculator
Logic & proof
Statement: “If n² is divisible by 4, then n is divisible by 4.”
Which value of n is a counterexample?
2² = 4 is divisible by 4, but 2 isn't.

What's Included in StudyArk TMUA Preparation?
Everything you need to organise your practice and prepare for both papers.
Paper 1 preparation
Practise applying mathematical knowledge to unfamiliar problems, with topic-focused preparation.
Paper 2: Logic and reasoning
Develop your approach to mathematical reasoning, logical statements and proof-related questions.
Sample mock test
Experience a representative question format and practise navigating the sample test.
Timed practice and review
Practise managing your time across each 75-minute paper, then review every answer against the correct one.
Why Prepare for the TMUA with StudyArk?
A more structured way to practise, identify gaps and prepare for challenging mathematical questions.
Structured preparation
Organise your practice around the two papers and the relevant mathematical topics.
Practice that builds familiarity
Get familiar with question formats through the sample mock test.
Focus on reasoning, not memorisation
Emphasise applying concepts and evaluating mathematical arguments.
Support for your preparation journey
Talk to a StudyArk mentor about timed reasoning strategy, logic-and-proof technique and reviewing your mock.
Experience the TMUA Sample Mock Test
Familiarise yourself with the question format and test interface before test day.
What is the value of ∫02 (3x² − 2x) dx?
Pick an answer to see how it works. In the sample mock, answers are only revealed after you finish.
What the sample includes
Both TMUA papers: 20 multiple-choice questions each, 40 in total. Paper 1 applies mathematical knowledge; Paper 2 covers logic and proof.
It's timed
Each paper has its own 75-minute countdown, and Paper 2 starts once Paper 1 is submitted. A paper submits automatically when time runs out.
Answers and navigation
Choose one answer per question, flag questions to come back to, and jump around with the question navigator. No calculator, and no negative marking.
Feedback when you finish
See an estimated score on the 1.0–9.0 scale, then review every question against the correct answer.
You'll verify your mobile number first, then go straight to the instructions.
When you finish, you'll get the option to plan your next steps and enquire about StudyArk's TMUA preparation support.

Preparing for a Course That Uses the TMUA?
Check whether your intended course requires the test before deciding on your preparation plan.
Mathematics
Mathematics degrees at selected universities use the TMUA as part of admissions.
Computer Science
Computer Science degrees at selected universities use the TMUA as part of admissions.
Economics and other relevant courses
Economics and other courses that need strong mathematical reasoning may also use the TMUA.
The TMUA is required for selected courses, not every course at every university. Which universities and courses use it changes every admissions cycle, so always confirm on your university's admissions page and on the official UAT-UK site.

A timed sample mock test covering both papers (20 questions each, no calculator), with an estimated 1.0-9.0 score and a question-by-question review of your answers. Preparation is organised around Paper 1 (applying mathematics) and Paper 2 (logic and proof), and you can enquire about mentor support.
Yes, the sample mock test is free. You verify your mobile number to start it, then go straight to the instructions.
Two timed papers of 20 multiple-choice questions, 75 minutes each, with no calculator and no negative marking. You get a question navigator and flag-for-review, and when you finish you see an estimated score and can review every question against the correct answer.
Paper 1 tests applying mathematical knowledge — mainly higher GCSE and AS-level content such as algebra, functions, calculus, trigonometry, sequences, logarithms and coordinate geometry — to unfamiliar problems. Paper 2 tests mathematical reasoning: logic and proof, including necessary and sufficient conditions, counterexamples and spotting errors in arguments.
Yes. Our mentors focus on timed reasoning strategy, logic-and-proof technique and full-length mock reviews. Not every mentor teaches the TMUA, so tell us what you need in the enquiry form and we'll confirm the support available.
It depends on your starting point and how comfortable you are with AS-level maths. Around 8-10 weeks is a sensible plan for many students. Taking the sample mock early shows you where you stand.
